Queens Council on the Arts wants to give you money

It takes money to create great art and the Queens Council on the Arts knows that.

During the past year, the QCA awarded more than $200,000 to 26 individual artists and 43 organizations to help in the creation of arts and cultural programs throughout the borough.

First-time applicants are required to complete an application workshop, which they can do with an online tutorial, attending a group informational meeting or scheduling a one-on-one sit-down with a QCA staff member.

Next Thursday, Aug. 22, the QCA will hold its first application workshop of the season at its office located at 37-11 35th Ave. in Astoria. The entrance to the building is on 37th Street.

Workshops are open to individual artists and organizations, begin promptly at 6 p.m. and last about an hour and a half. No RSVP is required.

For more details about upcoming workshops and the application process, check out the QCA’s website.

The deadline to apply for a grant is Thursday, Oct. 10.
