One week from tonight, the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills hosts its first concert in more than 20 years.
Mumford & Sons will rechristen the former home of the US Open on Aug. 28 with an already sold-out show.
Marcus Mumford and company will join the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan, who all performed here in the 1960s.
The West Side Tennis Club was also the site of the infamous pairing of headliners The Monkees and opening act Jimi Hendrix. Monkees fans booed Hendrix, who reportedly flipped off the crowd.
If all goes as planned, starting in 2014 concerts will become regular summer events.
